Konstfack Collective

Tuesday 18 February 2014

Design students Konstfack Collective showed a pared-back, architecturally influenced collection of furniture at Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair this month, providing one of the highlights of the show.

The collective's four members, Emma Andersson, Matilda Bergström, Fanny Dorthé and Josef Wirsén, are all in the final year of their Bachelor degrees at Konstfack University College of Arts, Crafts & Design in Stockholm. They created the collection by developing ideas then swapping them around, switching them and combining them.

They say of the result: "Our goal is to create a sense of space, where all the items work together to create a whole. We take architectural elements and abstract them into sculptural shapes."

A Memphis revival has been building in interiors for some time and will continue to be important over the coming seasons. We tracked the trend at Milan Design Week last year and in our materials report, Post-Modern Evolution.
